The Nomad Mk1 is a unique model in the world

Indeed, the Mk1 is the first car built by the young British brand created by Mark Konig and Bob Curl, a  old  from Lotus. Only three competition cars were built by Nomad. The MK1 is also the only coupe produced and it is by far the most beautiful model with the most important racing history. After the first tests carried out at Lyddon Hill, the novelty was released in the race in 1967 at the meeting of Crystal Palace. On many occasions Konig will choose to team up with Tony Lanfranchi. The Nomad lives up to its name in that during its first three years, it traveled up and down Europe to participate in numerous races and crossed the Atlantic in 1968 to run the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Its impressive track record includes  :
  • Three participations in the 500 km of the Nürburgring and the Mugello GP,

  • Two participations in the 6 hours of Brands Hatch,  at the Targa Florio, 1000 km from Paris, 1000 km from the Nürburgring,

  • A participation in the 12 hours of Reims, in the Trophée d'Auvergne, in the 500 km of Imola, a registration in the 24 hours of Le Mans 1968 where she received the No 73 but did not take the start, and a participation in the 24 hours by Daytona  1968 as indicated above.

The body which was originally made of aluminum was designed by Bob Curl and manufactured by the famous English coachbuilder Williams & Pritchard. Over time his design has undergone slight changes. From 1968, the front and rear hoods were modified and are now  made of fiberglass, the central part of the body remaining in aluminum.

The multitubular frame of round sections is robust and very well designed. During its life, the Nomad Mk1 received several engines. The original engine is a Ford 1600 4 cylinder block prepared by Chris Steele, mated to a Hewland MK9 gearbox. Its power is given for 175 bhp at 7800 rpm. Its displacement was then pushed to 1800 cc, and finally the Nomad received the fragile BRM V8 1500 cc.

Today the car is in perfect running and presentation condition. Its 1,800 cc Ford Twin Cam engine passed through the engine test bench delivers 192 horsepower. The car has a complete follow-up and numerous maintenance invoices as well as a complete file including the gray card of the time in the name of Mark Konig. Having remained the property of a German collector for 27 years, it has a documented history.

Can be registered in France.
