The Ligier JS P2 is an LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) designed by French manufacturer Onroak Automotive in 2014. Developed as a successor to the Morgan LMP2s that were opened, it embodies a major advance in terms of aerodynamics, performance and safety. Its name is a tribute to Guy Ligier, the brand's founder, and marks Ligier's return to endurance racing after several decades' absence.

Design and technical specifications

The Ligier JS P2 marks a major evolution in the category, as it is a coupé built around a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis . In terms of powertrains, the Ligier JS P2 had an open architecture, allowing it to be powered by several engines: the Nissan VK45DE V8, the Honda HPD V6 and the Judd HK V8. With a minimum regulatory weight of 900kg, the JS P2 features double wishbone suspension, an XTRAC sequential gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted paddles, and carbon brakes.

Since its launch, the Ligier JS P2 has established itself as one of the benchmarks in LMP2. Over the course of its career, the Ligier JS P2 has accumulated 33 pole positions, 31 fastest race laps, 56 podiums, 19 victories and five titles.

• 2016 24 Hours of Daytona: Winner in the Prototype class with the Tequila Patrón ESM team.

• 12 Hours of Sebring 2016: Winner for the #22 Tequila Patrón ESM Ligier JS P2-Nissan, winning the second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

• Petit Le Mans 2016: Victory in the prototype category with the #60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2-Honda.

• Asian Le Mans Series 2018-2019: LMP2 Am class title for the Rick Ware Racing

• 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours: Second place in the LMP2 class for the G-Drive Racing.

Chassis 07 offered for sale - Asian Le Mans Series: 5th in 2018 and 2nd in 2019

With the eligibility limit for Masters Endurance Racing set for 2016, the Ligier JS P2 is the most modern LMP2 capable of scoring points in this Championship.

Chassis 07, which is part of the Ascott Collection stock, was entered by Algavre Pro Racing - APR before being acquired in 2022 by a British competitor. The latter raced his JS P2 with great success in the Masters Endurance Legends. Indeed, at the wheel of the LIGIER JS P2 powered by a JUDD engine, he finished on the scratch podium on numerous occasions, including at Brands Hatch (two 2nd places at Brands Hatch, two 2nd places at the Nürburgring, twice 6th at Silvertone (class win), 4th (class win) at the 6 Hours of Spa and 3rd at the scratch. 6th and 4th at the Algavre Classic Festival.

Acquired by Ascott Collection at the end of 2024, this Ligier JS P2 is available for sale with a very interesting stock of parts. It is ready to be entered in Masters Endurance Racing Legends,HSR in the United States and in the Middle East and Legends of Le Mans by Peter auto & Le Mans Classic (tbc).
