Facel Vega: French luxury

The name HK 500 of this French GT comes from its exceptional weight / power ratio for the time (Horse per Kilogram in English) of 5 kilos per horse or 5.0 kg.ch. The ultimate evolution of the FV coupe series started in 1954, this two-door coupe is powered by a 5.9 l Chrysler V8, capable of reaching 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds. Aesthetically very successful with its very specific grille and panoramic windshield, the HK 500 was the showcase of French luxury across the Atlantic.

The model offered for sale is the HK1 series, ie the ultimate evolution with four disc brakes. It is in very good condition. The bodywork and the chrome are in very good condition. The interior is neat and also in very good condition.

It was produced in April 1961 on order of the British importer Facel vega  HWM Chassis number is 827. Engine is Chrysler V8 wedge, 383 cu.inch / 6.2 L. Transmission is stock 3-speed automatic. It had original disc brakes.  

Historical

On November 9, 1961, the English importer Facel Vega HWM sold this car to Mr. Ernest Doe (owner and director of Essex-based Ernest Doe & Sons, which traded tractors and agricultural machinery).

The car had been delivered with original power steering but according to the archives of  HWM, the latter was withdrawn because Mr. Doe did not wish to keep it.

In April 1964, it was sold to Mr.  Pryor inhabitant of Navestock in Essex.

In 1970 the latter put on sale the Facel Vega and it was acquired by Mr. Michael Mirecki, living in North London who kept it until 1980.

It was then sold in France to Mr. Kaluziner, who kept it for a long time. It was purchased by its current owner in 2000. 

During the last fifteen years, it has received meticulous maintenance and it has been driving very regularly. The upholstery was completely restored seven years ago.

It is currently registered in Switzerland.
